Helms Finds 'Intelligence'

"The Office" and The Hangover star Ed Helms has just lined up his next project at Universal. Variety reports that the comedian will star in a film called "Central Intelligence" that revolves around an accountant who is thrown into the world of international espionage after re-connecting with an old friend on Facebook. The action comedy is written by Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen and is being produced by Peter Principato, Paul Young, Matt Berenson, Allen Fischer and Joel Zadak. At this time there is no director attached.

I can't say this project sounds very enticing. I enjoy Helms brand of humor, but this project just screams Get Smart. Too many times have we seen a newbie thrown into a world of espionage and simply the story is too over-used to get all that excited about. With no director attached, there is no telling how good this film can be with Helms as it's star. Ed Helms has always seemed like a co-star and not someone who can carry a movie, but I guess we can gauge that after "Central Intelligence" releases. More news on "Central Intelligence" as it develops...

What say you? Does Central Intelligence sound like an over-used concept? Strikeback...
