Thunder Strikes The Dark Knight!

Tropic Thunder has taken the Dark Knight out of the #1 spot at the box office after 4 straight weeks at the top! It is estimated that Tropic Thunder will make over $26 million, while The Dark Knight took in another $16 million at #2, adding it overall to $471 million dollars! Star Wars Clone Wars came in 3rd with $15 million, Mirrors was 4th with $11 million and rounding out the top five was Pineapple Express with $10 million toitaling $62 million after last weeks #2 spot. Tropic Thunder opened wednesday and has pulled in $37 million in total gross over the 5 day period. It seems Tropic Thunder had a bit more steam and ability to dethrone Dark Knight with Ben Stiller and Jack Black at the helm, than the so-called Apatow stoner film. It also seems that any negative press that was pushed on some of Tropic Thunder scenes made no difference at the box office this weekend.

A side note, Woody Allen's Vicky Christina Barcelona came in at #10 with a $3.7 million dollar opening, which is Allen's 2nd biggest in his long and esteemed career.
