Seems how fall (although if you live in California like I, it sure doesn't feel like it!) is vastly approaching, I figured I'd give you all my 20 most anticipated films of the next three months! Being the home stretch and oscar season we are bound to find some diamonds in the rough out there, but here are 20 films that I have had my eyes on for a while now and all look quite good and some look phenominal! There were a few that almost made the list, but ultimately they are absent! Continuing along in the countdown, here's 10-6...
Kevin Smith was at one time, my favorite director and while I still look out for his films and like his insight on the industry, the guy hasn't pulled off a great film since Dogma (that is even debatable, most would say Chasing Amy). Let's face it, Smith shouldn't have even touched Clerks II, while I liked the film, it really only tarnishes the memory of the first. The film prior to that, Jersey Girl, was an utter disaster for Smith, but he at least stepped away from his usual schtick. Has good old "lunchbox" lost his vision and edge? I wouldn't go that far, but his newest film better had make some money and really be what we should expect from one of the better dialogue writters of this generation. This time around Smith has decided to borrow for Apatow's cash cow and enlist the help of Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks. Smith is definately going for the adult crowd with Zack and Miri Make A Porno, which should prove to be crass and hopefully have some stellar dialogue and perfect deliveries from funnyman Rogen. If you have for some reason not heard anything about this film, the plot goes as follows, Zack and Miri are lifelong platonic friends who are strapped for money and decide to direct and produce a porno together so that they may make a huge profits in an industry that is always booming. As the two begin production, they realize that their friendship may develop into something more. Starring with Rogen and Banks are Craig Robinson, Justin Long, Smith normals like Jason Mewes and Jeff Anderson, and also a few porno regulars like Traci Lords and Katie Morgan. Zack and Miri Make A Porno hits theaters Halloween night October 31st! 
Rachel Getting Married is directed by Jonathan Demme and stars Anne Hathaway in a quarky family drama that deals with the return of an estranged daughter to the family home for her sister's wedding. Based on a screenplay by Jenny Lumet and formerly titled "Dancing With Shiva", Kym's (Hathaway) reemergence throws a wrench into the family dynamics, forcing long-simmering tensions to surface in ways both hilarious and heartbreaking. Anne Hathaway is an actress that demands attention, and I would probably go see her in anything. She has a natural beauty that is absolutely captivating to look at, and some acting chops, that can go toe to toe with the best (Just watch Devil Wears Prada, if you haven't already. If you haven't seen it, slap yourself first, then watch it)! Rachel Getting Married will be yet another dramedy that deals with family dynamics, and I just can't ever seem to get enough of these films. With Hathaway in the lead, it really is a no brainer. At first glimsp Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist looks just like yet another teen romance comedy. Sure it has Michael Cera, who is perfect as the not-so-sure of himself dweeb that is just so darn lovable, but without seeing the trailer for this film I was definately going to pass. Teen romance was nailed by writter and director John Hughes in the 80s with Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and my all time favorite, Some Kind of Wonderful (Damn you Lea Thompson). So for me something has to be damn intriguing in the teen romance department for me to want and see it. After seeing the trailer for Nick and Norah, all bets were off! This movie looks great, it takes place in one-night format and follows Nick and Norah through New York on their first evening together. Michael Cera is essentially playing his normal routine, but I have yet to tire of it, and he looks to be on his game. The trailer gives off the same vibe as 100 Ciggerates and should not disappoint. One actor that will always intrigue me is Mark Ruffalo, one actress that always intrigues me is Rachel Weisz, you put both of them together and throw in Adrien Brody and you have my $9! Now you add the fact that their newest is also a con-man film that looks to have a feel like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, I am really beyond estatic! The Brothers Bloom are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they've decided to take on one last job - showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world. Brody and Ruffalo look to play wonderfully off eachother in the film and Weisz brings both comedic flare and sex appeal. The film looks to be smart enough that it will keep you guessing and laughing all the way through. The locations are stunning, the dialogue looks strong (especially between Ruffalo and Brody), and looks to be filled with some spine-tingling action. The Brothers Bloom is directed by Rian Johnson (Brick) and releases October 24th. 
Milk is the story of California's first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk, a San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White. The film stars Sean Penn as Harvey Milk and James Franco as his lover Scott Smith. Josh Brolin plays Dan White the assassin, while Emile Hirsch plays Cleve Jones a gay rights activist who was an intern for Milk and went on to found NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. Deigo Luna will play another one of Harvey's boyfriends in the supporting cast. This film looks to be one of Gus Van Sant's best works and is definately very appealing to see a story like Milk's being told. The film will definately have to have alot of buzz for the general audiences to embrace it with its tone, but I am sure this will be an Oscar contending film, no doubt! Milk releases November 26th.
