Brosnan Has Another Affair!

Pierce Brosnan told USA Today that he is curently working on a sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair remake he did in 1999. The film is said to be loosely based of the 1964 film 'Topkapi'. Brosnan said, "we are just using a sliver of that...this is a different affair." The film will utilize the same location as 'Topkapi', Istanbul, and this time around Mr. Crown will be after the Kasikci Diamond instead of paintings. It is written by Eric Ambler and Michael Cristofer. The film slated to release in 2009, it is being directed by Paul Verhoeven, and is in pre-production now. This film might actually being a decent sequel to the first film. Verhoeven is a genius in my mind, and has made a few masterpieces including, Robocop and Black Book. One can only hope The Thomas Crown Affair will measure up to the likes of his other great works.

Rene Russo will not be back for the film, (Angelina Jolie is already rumored for the role, I hope this is untrue, let her deal with her nursery) so Brosnan will need to find another love interest. It has been rumored that Jolie has been asked to put on a few extra pounds for the role. The source said, "They don't want a reprise of what happened with Wanted, where she was fainting and they had to take her costumes in. She was also slated for being too skinny to portray an action woman, and for Thomas Crown they want a convincing female lead. Hopefully, she will take them up on it - a few extra pounds wouldn't hurt her." If it is true that Angelina will infact be in The Thomas Crown Affair 2, Paul Verhoeven is one of a few elite directors I'd trust to actually make Jolie work for me in a film (although, I bet Angelina is an unattainable female that Crown swoons over, typical of every Jolie performance). The role for whoever ends up being casted will be very physically demanding, which would explain why the inquiry into Jolie's weight. I really think they can find somebody else to play the femme fatale in the role.
