Buscemi is a Saint!?!

Steve Buscemi's production company Olive Productions has begun working on "Saint John of Las Vegas." The film will star Buscemi and Romany Malco (Weeds and 40 Year Old Virgin) in a script that is loosely based on Dante's "Inferno" written by Hue Rhodes who will also direct for the first time. Saint John of Las Vegas has a very strong supporting cast with Emily Mortimer, Tim Blake Nelson, John Cho, Emmanuelle Chriqui, and Peter Dinklage rounding out the film. Variety is reporting that, "Buscemi plays an ex-gambler who's under the tutelage of a maverick insurance fraud investigator (Malco). The film is shooting in Albuquerque, N.M., and Las Vegas."

Olive Productions was co-created by Steve Buscemi with Stanley Tucci and Wren Arthur and Saint John of Las Vegas will be the company's first film. The feature will be fully financed by IndieVest Pictures. IndieVest was launched in 2007 by Wade Bradley, Mark Burton and Matt Wall to finance production, P&A and self-distribution of films with under $10 million budgets. The budget of Saint John of Las Vegas is said to be $3.8 million dollars.

Steve Buscemi is a wonderful actor and I generally love all of his films, and with this cast Saint John of Las Vegas looks to be a great film. Buscemi's performances in Fargo, Ghost World, The Big Lebowski, and Reservoir Dogs are legendary and guy has over 100 acting credits on IMDB. More to come on Saint John of Las Vegas.
