Spears Will Not Star in "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!"

Yesterday the Telegraph reported that Britney Spears had been casted to play lesiban dancer Varla in a remake of the Russ Meyer's 1965 cult film "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" directed by Quentin Tarantino. “Quentin is convinced Britney will be brilliant. She’s delighted. She thinks it could turn her career around,” a source told the British paper. “It is perfect Tarantino material. He wanted to get Britney first. She’s playing the most important character.”

These rumors struck me as odd, that QT would begin casting for Faster Pussycat, when he is beginning production for "Inglorious Bastards" within the next two months. Tarantino has said that he wants 'Bastards' at Cannes in 2009, so why would he switch streams? QT has said, that he would direct "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" himself, so it is highly doubtful the acclaimed director would work on two projects at once!

Access Hollywood and MSNBC are reporting today that those rumors are untrue and both QT and Britney's publicist have denied the casting. Britney's rep said, “Though she definitely intends to explore acting roles down the road, right now she’s concentrating on recording her next album.” Tarantino's camp also quickly rebuted by saying to Access Hollywood, “There is no truth to this.”

Thoughts on Britney rumor? Would she have made a good Varla? Have you seen the original Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!? Will QT direct this after Inglorious Bastards?
