DC and WB are pooling their efforts once again to bring another comic book character to the big screen. This time around the studio has taken aim on "Deadman" and has hired Guillermo Del Toro to produce. For all the details read the story below...
Deadman is a trapeze artist who performs under the guise of Deadman. During one performance Boston Brand aka Deadman is murdered by a unknown killer. After his death Brand becomes a ghost and gains powers to posses any living being in order to find his murderer and bring him to justice. He is also granted the powers of invisibility, flight and the ability to stay un-detected by any senses. Deadman first appeared in Strange Adventures #205 (October 1967), and was created by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino.
Bloody Disgusting broke the story last Friday only to be unsourced by Variety this week. Bastards! B-D reports that Warner Bros. are circling Denmark director Nikolaj Arcel to helm the comic adaption. I unfortunately have not seen any of Arcel's work and have only read Deadman in a few of his smaller appearences throughout the world of DC. Having Guillermo Del Toro on board has producer is a nice fit for the underworld hero, but Del Toro has 11 other projects that he is involved in some capacity and that is excluding the two Hobbit films. Fairly easy to tell, Del Toro's talents are going to be stretched out pretty thin with so many upcoming projects, so who knows how big of a role he will play in getting the film made. More news on "Deadman" as it breaks...
What say you? Does Deadman sound like something you be seeing? Strikeback...
