"The Green Hornet" has finally landed a worthy villain to its cast. After not being able to secure Nicolas Cage as the villain to tangle with Britt Reid (Seth Rogen), the superhero action comedy had began filming but was still without a villain. That news has changed with Nikki Finke reporting Inglourious Basterds star Christoph Waltz has signed on to the Michel Gondry directed film. For the full details scroll down...
Christoph Waltz played Nazi Col. Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds and earned himself a Best Actor nomination at this year's Cannes and (some say) he will do the same come the Academy Awards annual event. Waltz who has had a disguinshed career in German cinema, will star opposite Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Edward James Olmos and Tom Wilkinson. Waltz will play the intimidating Chudnofsky, a role previously described as "a gangster who tangles with the Green Hornet," by Variety.
I am a huge fan of Michel Gondry and pretty excited to see what he can do with "The Green Hornet" with Rogen in the lead. Rogen I have my issues with, but I generally am intrigued to see all of his projects. Unfortunately, I have yet to see Inglourious Basterds, so my opinion on Waltz is pretty neutral. The online concensus is that he is an amazing talent, so I will for now take the recommendation of most my esteemed collegaues. Stay tuned for more updates on the currently filming "The Green Hornet" slated for a December 10th, 2010 release...
What say you? Is Christoph Waltz a solid replacement for Cage? Strikeback...
