This past week Magnet has released a partial line-up to this year's Magnet 6-Shooter Film Series V2. This is the second attempt of Magnet/Magnolia at releasing a string of six films that come from different countries around the world displaying a vast vanguard of worldwide genre cinema. Last year's Magnet 6-Shooter Film Series was a success in my eyes with 5 out of the 6 films being very well done and films I would enjoy in my home library of movies. Especially Time Crimes and Let the Right One In, both of those films were in my Top 15 for 2008. This year's lineup looks to be a different take on genre films going with a heavy Asian influence of martial arts and history. Of the films within the line-up I have already seen both "Bronson" and "Red Cliff", which I can't recommend enough. My only concern is with "Red Cliff" which is actually two films and the U.S. release will be cut into one film. I loved both parts to Woo's "Red Cliff", but can understand the hesitation to release the two full parts to American audiences. Highly doubtful they would invest in both and better two splice them together in one concentrated story. More news on Magnet 6-Shooter Film Series V2 as it develops...
