Two Asgardians Join 'Thor'

Last night news broke that two more actors have joined the cast of Marvel's upcoming "Thor" being directed by Kenneth Branagh. Actress Jaimie Alexander and actor Colm Feore will play two Asgardians in the upcoming superhero film that is set to begin production in early 2010. For all the details scroll down...


Out of the two actors named, Jaimie Alexander's role is the only one that is clear. Alexander who is mainly known for her role as Jessi XX on ABC Family's Kyle XY, will play Sif. Sif is based on the mythological character of the same name and is a powerful Asgardian warrior and lover to Thor. Sif in the Marvel comics is mainly aligned with another friend of Thor, Balder (someone who I also happens to play a role in the film). Sif was born with golden hair, however Thors evil half-brother Loki, cut it off only to replace it with enchanted hair made by trolls, that turned her hair black. Through Marvel's various run's on Thor, Sif has encountered many various battles and foes, but has always been a strongest female warrior of Asgard and deeply attached to Thor.

Colm Feore's role is not defined other than being some sort of villain. The studio has opted to not even send the actors the script in order to keep things hush hush surrounding "Thor". I have a couple ideas of who Feore could possibly be playing including Eldred the Scorcerer who trained Loki in the black arts, or perhaps even Surtur, who Loki offers Eldred soul in exchange for power. Feore could also potentially be playing the human henchman of Loki named Carl "The Crusher" Creel and later the Abosrbing Man, but Feore's stature doesn't really have with putting to much weight in him playing Creel. I look for Feore instead to be someone who teaches Loki the dark arts and builds his passion for mischief.

Jaimie Alexander and Colm Feore join Chris Hemsworth in the title role of Thor, Tom Hiddleston playing the god of mischief Loki, Brian Blessed as Odin and Natalie Portman as Thor's human love interest Jane Foster. The film will focus on Thor being sent from Asgard to Earth to live amongst humans as a punishment for igniting an acient war. After his evil half-brother Loki sends his evil magic and forces to disrupt and invade Earth, Thor must learn what it is to be a true hero. "Thor" is set for a May 20th, 2011 release date.
