Review - Thor

Son of Odin, Thor believes himself ready to take the throne of Asgard but after his arrogance and temper break a truce between the Frost Giants and the Asgardians, Thor finds himself cast out of Asgard and banished to Earth leaving his half-brother Loki next in line for the throne. Now stripped of his powers, Thor must learn humility in order to gain back his title as the God of thunder.

Super Bowl Ad Reactions

Yesterday was Super Bowl XLV and while plenty of us were watching the game, a big number were also tuned in just for the commercials. Its a tradition. The latest cars, beers and food are heavily pitched to us. Also which is more important to myself, all of the latest movie advertising. New trailers and teasers and sometimes our first look at a highly anticipated movie. This year was no different and below you can read my reactions to some of the biggest trailers that played during Super Bowl XLV.

SDCC 2010 Wrap-Up

San Diego Comic Con is one of my most treasured vacations each year. Yes, you read that right, vacation. Most of the major movie blogs have scores of writers working for them trying to cover the entire convention, while here on SMR, I've got myself. Attending SDCC for me is not work, it is very much a pleasure and a joy for a couple of reasons. First, I see what I want. I'm not going to cover or waste time attending something I am not interested in. Second, I'm going with intentions to have fun. Simply put, this is a passion of mine so listening to some of my favorite directors and actors describing an upcoming project not to mention potentially showing me (and thousands of others) exclusive footage, is by every means, tons of fun.

This article is not trying to be breaking news. If you wanted that, you are better off on a site like Deadline, Slash Film, Collider, Latino Review or Heat Vision Blog who are in the business of pushing movies. I'm here instead to bring my opinion on upcoming movies that I am genuinely interested in. There is absolutely no peddling here, just my impressions from my experience at SDCC 2010. Take a look at my what I saw over four days at this year's San Diego Comic Con after the break...

Today two brand new pieces of promo art for Marvel Studios "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" debuted on Yahoo Movies for Comic Con. First and foremost I gotta say how much I love these pieces of concept art. If they were on sale, I'd be laying down whatever necessary to acquire them. Absolutely gorgeous work. Take a look at the new image for yourself after the jump...

Marvel Making More Headlines

Since this last weekend Marvel news has been swirling about pretty frequently, well sorta. First we learned that Marvel would be replacing Edward Norton as the Hulk in the upcoming "The Avengers" movie through what most would say was a fairly nasty announcement. That was followed by retorts by Norton and his representatives which proved he knew how to take the high road. In the meantime, Marvel is chomping at the bit to get a replacement named in time for Comic Con and over 5,000 screaming fans in Hall H. We've seen rumors that Joaquin Phoenix might be the next Banner, but today Deadline is reporting that a new "name" is in late-stage negotiations to play Bruce Banner aka the Hulk. Read the full scoop plus another fairly substantial announcement coming from Marvel Entertainment surrounding their future below...
