While most of us have tried to wipe Batman & Robin from our memory Akiva Goldsman has moved on with his career slowly building somewhat of a better reputation. To his credit Goldsman did win an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for A Beautiful Mind. Goldsman more recently has got his hands in quite a few comic book properties from both Marvel and DC and yesterday the writer/producer spoke with the L.A. Times about a few of his upcoming projects. See what Akiva Goldsman had to say below...
Goldsman told the L.A. Times that he thinks Guy Ritchie is perfect for "Lobo". He said, "There's something hyperbolic and authentic about a Guy Ritchie movie. His best movies are deeply, deeply stylized yet they are all grounded; there's a grit of stylization, which sounds like an oxymoron but it makes perfect sense when you've seen his films." Goldsman also informed the Times that they are settled on the character design and that they would shoot a test scene in November. He confirmed that casting would begin after the test scene.
Akiva Goldsman also spoke about "Swamp Thing". He expressed his intent of making this version of Swamp Thing closer aligned with the classic Universal monster horror films. He said, "We want a film with real Southern, dark horror overtones, a little bit like a classic Universal horror film." No time table was given on Swamp Thing, but Goldsman at least has my ears perked with his Universal horror reference. To read everything Akiva Goldsman had to say on all of his comic book properties in the works including "The Losers" and "Jonah Hex" head over to L.A. Times...
What say you? Interested in a darker Swamp Thing adaptation? Think Guy Ritchie will pull of a grounded Lobo? Strikeback...
