'Mother's Day' Still & Website

A film that has been shooting for a little over a month now is Darren Lynn Bousman's "Mother's Day". Bousman is remaking the cult Troma classic directed by Llyod Kaufman, with his own take on the original film. Today the official website for the film was launched including a video introduction by Bousman and two of his stars from the film. Along with the new site, Bloody Disgusting has our first look at Deborah Ann Woll as Lydia. Take a look at the brand new image and a few things Bousman told BD after the break...

Daren Lynn Bousman told BD that his "Mother's Day" is very much it's own movie while paying homage to Kaufman's original film. He said, "Basically, we took Charles story, and put it in today's world, in today's economic climate, and asked what would this dysfunctional family be like right now in this environment?" he continues. "We have kept the idea of this strong villainous iconic Mother (played by Rebecca De Mornay), and her grasp over her children. Her power to control them, and nurture their evil ways. The killing, the murder, the carnage all to make 'mother very proud' is still very much apart of MOTHER'S DAY."

"Mother's Day" was penned by Scott Milam and stars Rebecca De Mornay, Jaime King, Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Matt O'Leary and Patrick Flueger. The official synopsis reads: After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home…only to discover that their mother lost the house in a foreclosure. The new owners and their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the brothers’ unwitting hostages. Their mother and sister arrive, and it soon becomes obvious that Mother will do absolutely anything to protect her children. In one terrifying evening, Mother brilliantly takes control of the situation and masterminds her sons’ escape. Sides will be taken, secrets revealed, and sins punished as the hostages struggle to make it through the night. The horror remake is set for a Mother's Day 2010 release date.
