Over last week Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes have revealed that they will in fact move forward with a sequel to this year's Friday the 13th. Warner Brothers is set to distribute the 13th film in the history of Jason Vorhees with New Line Cinema. "Friday the 13th Part 2" will slice into theaters August 13th, 2010. For more details read on...
Friday the 13th and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" producer Brad Fuller posted to his blog, "Stay tuned as I hope to have some Friday 13th part 2 (or 13 depending on how you are counting) news soon." This year's release was a huge hit and I for one loved what they did with the franchise. I cannot wait to see what happens in their second installment. Make no mistake, this film will be Friday the 13th Part II, not Part 13. This film will continue what Damion Shannon and Mark Swift created in this year's film.
Shannon and Swift have been hired to pen the sequel, which was rumored to begin with a snow capped Jason. This rumor makes a heap of sense considering the timeline the film will be under to actually release next summer. The thought of Jason in the snow is mesmerizing for me. I love the look to snowbound horror and let's face it, We've never seen Jason in the snow before. If we can see him in space or in New York, I think the snow wouldn't be that big of a stretch to the imagination.
To add further speculation to the next Friday the 13th sequel, Box Office Mojo reports that "Friday the 13th Part 2" will be in 3D! I have not found confirmation of this news any where else, but it wouldn't be too far off to think and I'm sure they can improve upon the original Friday the 13th Part III in 3-D! More news on "Friday the 13th Part 2" as it develops...
What say you? Do you want to see a 3-D Friday the 13th next summer? Strikeback...
