23rd 007 Shooting Next Year?

Our most current James Bond, Daniel Craig, may have let the cat out of the bag. He told fan's leaving a stage production in New York of "A Steady Rain" that the next 007 film will begin lensing next year. Craig's comments could get Bond fans pretty excited, but there is reason to believe that Craig may have been speaking out of line. For more details see below...

Back in June, MGM announced that Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon), Neal Purvis (Quantum of Solace) and Robert Wade (Casino Royale) were currently penning the next 007 installment. At that point there was no director attached to the project, which remains constant. Craig did say the next film will shoot in 2010, however the acclaimed actor did not specify when. MGM has made no formal announcement to confirm nor deny Craig's comments, but without a director on board, there seems little point to.

At the end of the day, I'm sure there is some truth to Craig's comments. MGM does intend to release the 23rd Bond film in 2011, so a 2010 shooting schedule would make sense, it's just that we still have a lot more to be developed before Bond 23 does indeed get underway.
