Fav's Not Directing 'Avengers'

One thing Marvel fanboys can finally lay to rest is whether Jon Favreau will direct "The Avengers" movie for Marvel. MTV recent had a chance to ride along with Fav's in his golf cart while in Bora Bora and learned that the director of Iron Man and "Iron Man 2" will not be directing "The Avengers". I will repeat that again for those fanboys holding out hope, Jon Favreau is not directing "The Avengers". To read what else Fav's had to say about Marvel, "The Avengers" and "Iron Man 2", follow the jump...

Mr. Favreau did confirm that while he will not be directing "The Avengers" will be serving as an executive producer on the film. He said, "They'll have to [find a different director], because I'm not going to be available. It's something I'm being the executive producer on, so I'll definitely have input and a say."

Favreau went on to explain that it will be a difficult decision on Marvel's part to find the right director. He said, "It's going to be hard, because I was so involved in creating the world of Iron Man and Iron Man is very much a tech-based hero, and then with 'Avengers' you're going to be introducing some supernatural aspects because of Thor. How you mix the two of those works very well in the comic books, but it's going to take a lot of thoughtfulness to make that all work and not blow the reality that we've created." Fav's then relished on the fact that Kevin Feige is of course steering the ship and knows where to go. He said, "That's why it's good that you have the guys from Marvel like Kevin Feige, who knows the books well and has been involved with the making of all the movies, and he'll be very involved with 'Thor' and 'Cap'. You need somebody who has the perspective of all the different franchises to bring them together. I have the myopic vision of just knowing and loving Iron Man."

Jon Favreau also confirmed that Edward Norton nor the Hulk will appear in "Iron Man 2" as a set up to "The Avengers" film. He also expressed that he and Marvel do not want to get set on one specific tie-in to the "The Avengers" for "Iron Man 2". He said, "If we decide and commit too early, the secret always gets out." To read what else Fav's had to say on "Iron Man 2" and "The Avengers" head over to MTV...

What say you? With Fav's out, who should direct The Avengers? Strikeback...
