Sly Says Rocky 7 After Rambo 5

I am starting to think that Mel Brooks' Spaceballs wasn't so far off when it mocked the Rocky movies with a title spoof of Rocky 5000. News is fluttering around the internet about Sylvester Stallone's recent comments to Tele 5 in Germany, where he eluded to the fact he wants another round of Rocky. Obviously anyone's first reaction is, say what? I thought Rocky Balboa was the last round? But after hearing what the old dog had to say about his reason's, you may find yourself saying why not. Read all the details on "Rocky 7" below...

Stallone is currently finishing up the throwback 80's action fest "The Expendables" and has confirmed that "Rambo V: The Savage Hunt" will begin shooting in Spring, but now the 63 year old actor/director wants to make a seventh Rocky. He told Tele 5, "I know I'll probably make a fool of myself if I make another 'Rocky' film after turning 60." He continued, "I also know there's gonna be a lot of criticism. Even my wife says, 'Don't do it. You're embarrassing the kids'. But I told her, 'If I don't try I'll be a really unhappy man.' You have to do it. Artists like me have to go through the dark over and over again." Stallone knows full well that despite any snarky comments, he has more to say with his prolific character Rocky Balboa.

So what exactly would 'Rocky 7' even be about? If you saw Rocky Balboa, you know that the film ended with Balboa ending his career on a positive note. Could Stallone possibly think that Rocky at 64 or 65 (by the time they begin filming) could fight another round? The answer is no. Stallone knows full well, that would be ludicrous and has something much different in mind for the 7th film.

Instead of 'Rocky 7' being about the boxer, it would focus on the man. Stallone explained, "I know it's ludicrous and everyone would laugh. I would laugh about it. But I also know that I'd be successful if I can make this a film about becoming older, not about boxing but about myself." Sold! What can I say, seeing a film revolving on Rocky the man and not the boxer, just gets me excited.

In related news: Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger all got together today to film. As reported earlier, Willis and Schwarzenegger have cameos in Stallone's "The Expendables" and the trio got together today to film their scenes. Today via Twitter we got these snippets of Arnold, Sly and Bruce together for the first time from @marialascala, "Cameras r rolling with sly Bruce and Arnold all together for the first time" and then later "Wow im stil reelng from the day. Six hours of Arnold bruce & sly creating movie magic." Can't imagine how cool that would've been to be in the same room as those 3 working together. It is really gonna be a treat when "The Expendables" releases next Summer!
