Variety reports that action star Jason Statham is in final negotiations to star as a rigid detective selected to take down a UK serial killer. The thriller is based on the book "Blitz" written by Ken Bruen and was scripted by Moon screenwriter Nathan Parker. The film adaption will begin shooting in August and is being directed by Elliott Lester (Love is the Drug) for Lionsgate Films in London.
Jason Statham will Detective Sergeant Tom Brant who is a rough detective that is assigned to the serial killers trail. While the role doesn't seem like too big of a stretch for Statham, having the film being a thriller could make for a rousing experience. The serial killer in the film, named Blitz by London's media, takes aim at various police officers throughout London cityscape. Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum) has also been casted to play Statham's partner tracking down the police serial killer. More news to follow on "Blitz" as it develops...
