Two new posters for "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" debuted on Empire online this morning and I have them here for you below. The two striking new posters for the Disney adapted video game features Jake Gyllenhaal as Dastan in one and Gemma Arterton playing the princess Tamina on the other. The posters are not at all what I expected from Disney's promotions for the film, but it is definately an interesting and dramatic look. Russ Fischer over at Slash Film noted the Arterton poster, looked more like a magazine cover than a movie poster, and his thoughts are definately echoed here. Both near-pretentious posters feature a greyscale photograph (although in Gyllenhaal's poster he is illuminated in true color set behind a grey skyline) and include different overdone taglines including, "Defy the Future" and "Destiny."
I've been vocally optimistic about the choice of Gyllenhaal as Dastan from the get-go, but here in the new poster I have to say, he just might pull it off. For me, this film hinges more on how Newell attempts to present the video game adaptation, than Gyllenhaal's looks. Will it just become a mock of Disney's Pirates of the Carribean series or have a life of it's own? I am hoping on the later, especially considering we have not had a great Arabian adventure in quite some time. "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" which also stars Alfred Molina and Sir. Ben Kingsley is directed by Mike Newell and slated for a May 28th, 2010 release date. More news to come as it develops. Checkout the new posters below...

UPDATE: Another poster has been revealed highlighting Ben Kingsley's evil character Nizam. Much like the other two posters grey scale is takes center stage, and this time with get a close-up on Nizam and a peculiar look in his eye. The one thing the new poster does not include is any title or character placement or even a release date. Checkout the poster below...
