Found this interesting news reel while doing some digging today. The news isn't entirely surprising or new, but still very much reportable. Bloody-Disgusting reports that Jackie Earle Haley has signed on to play Freddy Krueger not once, but three times. Yes, that's right although the remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" has just finished shooting Haley has confirmed he signed a 3-picture deal as the nightmare haunting molester.
While the jury is still out on whether "A Nightmare on Elm Street" will be as good or as successful as the original, producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are not just planning one film. Rooney Mara who was casted as Nancy Thompson also confirmed via Bloody-Disgusting back in June, that she as well signed on to a multi-picture deal for two films. "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is scheduled for a April 16th, 2010 release and is directed by Samuel Bayer.
What say you? Excited about the prospect of 3 new Nightmare films? Do you think Haley will surpass Robert Englund in favor as Freddy? Is that even possible? Strikeback...
