JT Rumored for Green Lantern?

I don't know whether to laugh, cry or become excited from this latest news from our esteemed head geek over at AICN. Harry has reported that musician Justin Timberlake may have done a test screening for "Green Lantern" over at WB. Yes, I know it just doesn't read right. No confirmation has been made of the rumor yet, so there is no reason to get our undies in a bunch, but we could end up seeing JT dancing his way into the Green Lantern role.

After reading the news bit, I sat stunned for nearly 4 minutes before any real thoughts came to my mind. After the numbness wore away, I began to think, could this role actually fit Justin Timberlake? Timberlake does have acting abilities, but we have not really seen the young talent tested outside of comedy. So there is definately room for concern. Sure, he was in Southland Tales and Alpha Dog, but the roles do not give any real insight to how well he could carry a film or more importantly, play a beloved super hero.

So I remain conflicted about this news, I want to be excited, but fear that JT may not be right for the role. To date, the only name that has surfaced that really excited me was Ryan Gosling, who turned down the role. Every other name that has been mentioned, is just ehh for me. Timberlake however, does make some waves. His name is huge and he could draw in a percentage of movie goers who would have otherwise, never gone and seen "Green Lantern". The film could also possibly launch Timberlake into a whole new stratosphere in Hollywood he or I never expected.
