Tatum as Captain America...Please God No!

Someone actually thought to ask Channing Tatum if he had ever thought about playing Captain America in the upcoming Marvel film that has just recently found itself a director. I will leave my utter disgust that someone actually asked Tatum further allowing the idea to fester and grow in the young actors mind for later, but Cinematical recently did and here's what he had to say.

"Captain America? Oh my God! Oddly enough, I just got given a book – one of the painters came up and here gave me a book. I would think about it. Maybe it's destiny! I would definitely think about it – I just got done doing G.I. Joe, though. If Joe does well, and it doesn't seem to be the exact same story, then I would. I don't know. They seem to be very, very similar – almost identical. Except for the – I think he takes a serum? Like a strength serum? [But the WWII setting] could be very very cool."

How can anyone in their right mind actually think, "Yeah...Channing Tatum is a good choice for Captain America," are you smoking crack? Channing Tatum is probably one of the worst choices I have heard to date for the legendary Captain America! Tatum isn't perse a bad actor, but a possibility as Captain America? Come on! Sure Tatum has the right build, he seems All-American and what not, but as Capatin America? You have got to be joking me! As Channing pointed out, he just finished GI JOE and the characters are similair, but in no way shape or form should Channing Tatum play Captain America! Can anyone actually picture Tatum measuring up to the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and possibly Edward Norton (if Norton and Marvel patch things up) in the upcoming Avengers film? Let's not forget the fact that Captain America actually leads the Avengers and RDJ and Norton taking orders from Tatum, just really rubs me the wrong way!!

Thankfully, this is some fans piped up dream. Let's hope and pray that Marvel has not and will not, ever entertain the idea of Channing Tatum as Captain America! I understand that casting Captain America is a huge chore. There aren't really that many great actors that could fill the shoes of the Captain, but settling for Channing Tatum would be a huge mistake...Huge! May I suggest Matt Damon for Captain America or perhaps Matthew Fox? Brad Pitt would nail the role, but his likelyhood of ever signing on seems very slim to none. Sam Worthington, who is becoming a hot commodity lately, might be a good fit also. I mean Scott Speedman would be a better choice than Channing Tatum. Honestly, if it came down to Channing Tatum or Matthew McConaughey, I vote McConaughey all the way!
