Joe Carnahan has spoke in the past about his prequel to Smokin' Aces, but no official word has been said for at least five months. Well last week Carnahan revealed on his blog that Universal has finally greenlit the direct-to-dvd prequel. Joe said on his blog, "Finally, some actual 'Smokin Aces' news. Universal has officially greenlit the prequel and we are underway. Cameos will abound. Trust me."
Previously, Carnahan had stated that the prequel would focus on the Tremor Brothers, but no word is given on if that is still the case. With Chris Pine's possible success with Star Trek, would he stray away from doing a direct-to-dvd sequel? Chris Pine is although currently going to work with Carnahan again on Killing Pablo starring Christian Bale. Time will tell exactly how the prequel to Smokin' Aces will pan out, but it appears that Carnahan is moving forward in pre-production and at least teases the possibilities of cameos.What would you want to see from a Smokin' Aces prequel?
