Dimension films has been trying to get a remake to Clive barker's Hellraiser off the ground for a couple of years now, but it looked like it would never happen. THR reports the production company had hired Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo to pen and direct the remake, but to no avail. The studio then tapped Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton to work up a new draft, but again not to the studios liking. Now Dimension films is in final negotiations to hire french horror film director Pascal Laugier.
Pascal Laugier, who had alot of controversy over his film "Martyrs," is very excited to be apart of the project. He commented, "This is a dream project for me. I know Clive Barker's work very well, and I would never betray what he has done. Fans are expecting a definitive 'Hellraiser,' and I don't want to take that away from them."
Hellraiser is an outstanding piece of cinema and Laugier seems like a perfect choice to helm the project. His passion and understanding of the original story only adds to the overall positive spin to hiring a director of his caliber for the property.
Thoughts on the Hellraiser remake? Will this one ever really get off the ground? Does Pascal Laugier sound like the right guy? Strikeback....
