Marvel Has Found Thor!

Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that Marvel Studios and director Kenneth Branagh have found their Thor for the big screen adaptation. The studio made their final decision this week and has gone with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth. You might be saying, who the hell is that, that's okay cause he's somewhat of a unknown here in the States. Most recently he played George Kirk, father to James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams Star Trek. The aussie also has starred in a Australian television show called Home and Away for over 170 episodes. "Thor" is scheduled to begin shooting early next year, with a set May 2011 release date.

Prior to seeing Star Trek I had heard and reported on rumors that Chris Hemsworth was being looked at for "Thor". After seeing the film, with only 5 or 10 minutes on screen time, Hemsworth did show the ability to take on a role like Thor. A role that could potentially plunge the Aussie actor into mainstream audiences here in the States. With the unknown actor landing the role, Hemsworth must have definately made a huge impact on both Kevin Feige and Kennth Branagh. Hemsworth at first was past on by Marvel, then later brought back to do a testing on tape. The result was Chris Hemworth landing the role. Kevin Feige producer over at Marvel said his testing was "Oh my God" caliber and had director Kenneth Branagh come in for the final decision.

What say you? Do you think Chris Hemsworth is a good choice for Thor? Are you excited for a Thor movie? Strikeback...
