Lucas Shooting Star Tours 2.0

If you are a Star Wars fan and have ever been to Disneyland, then there is no doubt you've rode Star Tours. Last year it was confirmed that Disneyland is finally ready to give the ride which opened in 1987 an overhaul. Well today comes news that George Lucas is currently filming new footage for the update of the ultra-popular although aging ride on a production stage called, "LODESTAR" in West Hollywood.

Slash Film reports that the updated film will most likely feature 3D effects but primarily the same concepts. This time around Bobba Fett will be chasing the Star Tours transport vehicle, while R2-D2 and C3PO will remain along for the ride. Admiral Ackbar will also check in the with the Star Tours vehicle via a hollographic image. Along the Tour, riders can expect to see both prequel and original series characters within their journey.

No word on how soon the update will happen at Disneyland, but I expect this may trigger my interest in getting annual passes again for the family when it does.
