1980s and 1990s action fans who have always wanted Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in the same film can finally exhale....well sorta. AICN is reporting via their "source," that the California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will play himself in Stallone's upcoming "The Expendables."
That's right Schwarzenegger will play the governor of California in Stallone's newest film. The governator joins an already talented cast including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Forest Whitaker, Dolph Lundgren and of course Stallone. Schwarzenegger will film for only one day and his character is reported to have some history with Barney Ross (Stallone's character) back when Arnold was filming Conan the Barbarian. The film is set to start shooting next month and Stallone is currently hammering out the final balance of comedy, action and emotional reality on the script.
In other "The Expendables" news, Ben Kingsley has been replaced by Eric Roberts in the role of Monroe the dirty CIA operative.
What say you? Is Schwarzenegger's role in this film a little bitter-sweet considering the state of California? Should the governor be taking time to shoot a film no matter how short that time is? Is this the last we see of Schwarzenegger and Stallone together on film? Strikeback....
