Baster Nabs Bateman & Aniston

"The Baster" is a short story that was published in The New Yorker and adaptated for the screen by Allan Loeb that follows best friends Wally and Kassie who end up with a major secret between the two of them. Kassie decides to undergo artificial insemination and Wally learning of the planned pregnancy switches the donor's semen with his own. The film is being co-directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon (Blades of Glory) for Mandate Pictures and will begin lensing this spring in New York.

THR is reporting that "The Baster" has landed Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman for the romantic comedy. The casting feels like a perfect fit for the quarky comedy and both Aniston and Bateman are actors that I always enjoy in their performances. Bateman has a perfect offbeat comedic timing that proves time and time again to always provide a laugh filled performance. Aniston who is better fit in darker and offbeat comedies should be a nice compliment to Bateman. Her roles opposite Vince Vaughn, Edward Burns, Ron Livingston and Owen Wilson have proved to be her better performances in her career so, co-starring with Bateman should prove to be a nice change to the usual romantic comedy.
