Scripting Men in Black 3

Sony is eager to get a third Men in Black into theaters. The studio had previously hired Tropic Thunder scribe Etan Cohen to pen the next installment and news is circling that a 2010 shooting start is looming. Don't get too excited however, because none of the talent has signed on to star at this point. Read the full article after the jump...

What would a Men in Black movie be without Will Smith? Well, Sony is hoping they won't have to find out. The studio is planning to begin lensing as early as Spring 2010 with a 2011 release to follow. Smith, who doesn't have a job lined up at the present moment, has remained hesitant on returning to the franchise and would come with a hefty price tag. Although there is no doubt that Sony would cough up the green, considering the money they would get in return with Will Smith back as Agent Jay.

Recently, Heat Vision claimed that Will Smith is now perking his ears to the idea of returning with Cohen (who is a hot commodity these days in Hollywood) writing the script. News is that Cohen is nearly finished with the script and Sony likes what he's done with the third installment. Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the first two scifi comedies, is attached to direct the third, but no deals have been signed at this point.

I am a huge fan of Will Smith and would watch the guy in anything, but I always got a kick out of the Men in Black films. They are a lot of fun. They are the type of comedy I can watch again and again, still finding new things I enjoy or missed on a previous viewing. The idea of a third film could be tons fun and with a writer like Etan Cohen on board, I am intrigued to see how "Men in Black 3" develops.

No confirmation was given on Tommy Lee Jones returning as Agent Kay. More news on "Men in Black 3" as it develops...

What say you? Would you like to see a third installment of Men in Black? Strikeback...

Your excellent movie review was the very first thing I read this morning. My cat babies were gathered around me as I chuckled and giggled and almost nearly cried, and I do believe they also appreciated the review mightily
