Theroux is Writing Iron Man 2!!

Justin Theroux, hot off writing Tropic Thunder, has been hired to write the script for Iron Man 2! Theroux who has been mainly an actor most of his career, with over 36 listed titles on imdb, has now shifted to doing more writing. His other only writing credit includes Tropic Thunder which is slated to release August 18th. This news came way of Variety this morning and has me extremely pumped at the prospect of Iron Man 2, with Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. back and now Theroux writing, Iron Man 2 will kick all kinds of ass!!

Robert Downey Jr. plays Kirk Lazarus in Paramounts blockbuster comedy and worked with Theroux on the film. Downey Jr who has been completely frank with people, that he at times, can crumble up pages of a script and just improv lines. One would assume, the two developed a good working relationship, and began chatting about possible ideas of where Iron Man could go with the sequel. Downey Jr, being "gold" for MARVEL, has some say in who writes the script, and who better than his new pal Justin Theroux. (At least, that is what I have cooked up in my head.)

So, Iron Man 2 looks to be ready to move forward with Favs, Downey Jr, and Theroux writing. Of course, barring the script meets the MARVEL "brass" approval. Will they decide to go with the, "Demon in a Bottle" series, that Fav's has said he'd like to do. Especially after the success of HANCOCK, which had alot of the same theme's. Regardless of what the main theme of the script will be, I have faith that Theroux will come up with a quality script, hopefully in a short amount of time.!

However, Jon Favreau has recently voiced his opinions about the looming release date of April 2010, Favreau had stated,"this genre of movie is best when it is done thoughtfully and with plenty of preparation. It might be better to follow the BB/DK, X/X2 three year release pattern than to scramble for a date. It is difficult because there are no Marvel 09 releases and they need product, but I also think we owe it to the fans to have a great version of IM2 and, at this point, we would have less time to make it than the first one.” Obvisouly, Favreau's concerns are very vaild. Favreau most assuredly, will be working closely with both Theroux and Downey Jr to bring yet another kick ass verison of Iron Man. After how well Fav's handled the first Iron Man, I am 100% sure whenever Iron Man 2 releases, it will be just as fantastic!
