Battlestar Galactica to Witchblade!

Platinum Studios, Top Cow Productions, and Arclight Films have their director for Witchblade, the popular comic book which has sold over 100 million copies since its creation in 1995 and was once a tv show in 2001. Michael Rymer has been signed to direct the motion picture which is slated to release 2009. Rymer has previously directed 2002's 'Queen of the Damned', 20 episodes and produced 40 episodes for Battlestar Galactica and recently wrapped the series finale. The film is the first of two written by Everett De Roche and is scheduled to start shooting in China and Australia in September.

The Witchblade character has had many interpretations but the film will follow the popular comic with Sara as the weilder of the witchblade. As one of the current wielders of the Witchblade, Sara has been granted many unique abilities, including the power to heal herself, to create armor over her skin (as the Witchblade tends to rip away all of her clothes), to shoot energy blasts, to extend razor sharp tendrils and even winged flight. She has yet to explore the full limits of the Witchblade, and thus does not know what other mystical abilities it possesses. When not overly active, the Witchblade can assume the form of a bracelet, allowing her to wear the weapon without drawing attention. The Witchblade is a sentient artifact; as such, Sara does not have complete control over its actions and reactions.

Thoughts on Witchblade movie? Will you see it? Did you watch the tv show in 2001? Are you a fan of Michael Rymer?
