Sleestaks and Ferrell!!

Universal is bringing Land of the Lost, the 1970s & 1980s tv show, to the big screen next year. It stars Will Ferrell, Danny McBride (The Foot Fist Way), and Anna Friel (Pushing Daisies) and releases July 17, 2009. The film will feature many of the original concepts from the hit tv show including the sleestaks, chaka, and of course plenty of dinosaurs! Universal has said the film will retain most of the shows feel. The dinosaurs however, will not be wagging their tails, but the sleestak still move as slow as ever! This newest photo shows Ferrell, McBride, and Friel looking quite nervously at something in front of them, with a whole slew of sleestaks behind them slowly droning their way to them.

Land of the Lost is going for a PG-13 rating, but wants to cut it very close to the line, so that it will have appeal for both kids and adults who grew up on the show. This makes the second tv show adaptation for Ferrell, the first being 'Bewitched' which was hailed as a failure, but Land of the Lost looks as though it might have something. Anna Friel is very good on 'Pushing Daisies' and Danny McBride is hiliarious as a sidekick to the always funny Ferrell. From the look of this photo, the first official photo, and a few of the set photos that have been released Universal will have a hit on their hands, especially with its July 17th release date primed to make some big cash. Below are the other set and officials photos that have been released for Land of the Lost!

What are your thoughts on Land of the Lost? Look good? Are you over the fad of tv shows made into movies? Can Will Ferrell pull off a summer blockbuster adventure? Did you even watch the original tv show?
