Super Sets Release Date

One film I walked away from San Diego Comic Con 2010 extremely excited to see is James Gunn's "Super" starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Kevin Bacon, Liv Tyler and Nathan Fillion. A film I fear not just my kids but a lot of children will be begging to see, "Zookeeper" starring Kevin James as a Dr. Doolittle-type zookeeper. This film looks to follow in the same zany shtick James is known for, look stupid, fall down, make some fat jokes and get some cheap laughs. "Cars 2" a sequel to the 2006 Pixar cartoon about Lighting McQueen. Now I thought the first Cars was just ok. It's certainly not my favorite Pixar film, but its also not my least favorite either. Generally speaking Pixar is the pinnacle of American animation these days and anything they do warrants some interest but after watching this teaser for "Cars 2" I find myself desperately trying to hold on to any spec interest in this sequel. Poster: Tron Legacy

For awhile now it seems that their is a new "Tron Legacy" poster coming out every other week, but this latest trio of posters is too good for me not to draw a little more attention to Disney's marketing. Starting at the beginning of the week, Empire Online began a slow drip of 3 new posters that would make one Triptych banner. Not only is each piece of the triptych set outstanding together they make a elaborate display of the story and conflict set to take place in the long awaited sequel. Clu and Flynn on opposite sides with Flynn's son caught in the middle. It is  a brilliant design. Gotta love that the middle portion is such a classic throwback to the original poster. Let's face it, 3D is here to stay. Whether it is in theaters, on television or playing video games everyone is scrambling to the latest gimmick. I say gimmick because we went through this before. 3-D has been around since the 50's the first being Bwana Devil. Most of you will remember the 70's and 80's push to 3D. Movies like Amityville 3-D, Jaws 3-D, Friday the 13th 3-D. Back then, the format was 80% awful and as a direct result never really caught on. Now days however, 3D seems to be here to stay and I've struggled to fully endorse the medium for a couple reasons. This weekend in Los Angeles is the 3rd annual 3D Film Festival being hosted by Dream Factory at the Los Angeles Film School. The 3D festival will run from Thursday September 30th through Sunday October 3rd with a mix of panels/workshops, studio 3D films as well as independent 3D shorts and features. A Letter to Lucasfilm

Earlier today I posted my thoughts on Lucasfilm re-releasing the Star Wars saga in stereoscopic 3D. The article was penned in anger out of the fact it felt like a jab in the stomach. I've loved Star Wars since seeing the movie as a kid. I was one of the franchises most loyal customers (well truthfully my parents were because they paid for everything) owning and desiring anything and everything I could get my hands on with the words "Star Wars" on it. Blankets, light switches, toys, magazines, t-shirts, lunch pails, etc, etc. I've purchased every version of the VHS and DVD's that have released. I plan on buying the Blu-Ray's too. Actually I'm really looking forward to them. Star Wars is a commodity, I get that, Star Wars and the money that can be made from it are far bigger than George Lucas.
