Mark Wahlberg Set for Uncharted

Back in October we learned "The Fighter" director David O. Russell next film would be an adaptation of the popular video game "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune." Now this week news has broke that Russell will be working with the star of "The Fighter" Mark Wahlberg again. Yup, Marky Mark will be stepping into his second video game role and playing Nathan Drake. Not only that but Russell and Wahlberg have an incredible duo in mind for supporting roles in the video game action adaptation for Columbia Pictures. Check out the full details below...

Mark Wahlberg confirmed with MTV that he will be focusing on "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" as his next film. Wahlberg told the media outlet that the plan is hopefully shoot the action next summer. Wahlberg also revealed that David O. Russell has began writing and claimed that what Russell has in mind for the movie will be, "Off the charts."

Something else that is a little off the charts is the notion that David O. Russell is writing parts with two very famous actors in mind. He is writing with the hopes to land Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. In theory De Niro would play Drake's father and Pesci would his uncle. Wahlberg seemed very tickled by the notion of having two amazing actors back together again on screen with him. Shit, who wouldn't its Joe Pesci and Bobby De Niro?!

Frankly, Mark Wahlberg isn't a bad choice for Nathan Drake and considering this would be Russell's and his fourth film together, I am not surprised in the least. The two of them obviously have a great working relationship and I hope they are able to make this film work. The last time Wahlberg did a video game adaptation it didn't but, this movie has a far more talented director that I'm willing to bet will do justice by this project. As far as Wahlberg, he looks the part. I'm hard pressed to believe he is the best choice, but he's certainly not the worst. Fingers crossed.
