One of my favorite directors, Wes Anderson has been hired to write a remake of a French film called, "Mon Meilleur Ami/ My Best Friend" for Universal and Imagine. Anderson is a genius when it comes to intrapersonal characteristics and the quarky dynamics of relationships and this project sounds right up his alley. Variety is reoprting that Universal/Imagine are looking for the Mr. Anderson to direct the remake as well. While Brian Grazer and Agnes Mentre will produce the remake and Rosalie Swedlin will be executive producer.
The original film follows a cranky antiques dealer who learns at a dinner with his closest acquaintances that none of them really like him because of his harsh manner and selfishness. When his business partner bets him a valuable vase that he can’t produce a best friend, the dealer tries to get an amiable cab driver to pose as his buddy.
This again sounds like a perfect project for Anderson and like any of his projects I will be highly anticipating its release. Wes Anderson's newest film, "The Fantastic Mr. Fox," based on the famous book by Robert Dahl has just finished production and looks to be outrageous!
What are your thoughts on Wes Anderson's newest project? If Anderson directs, doesn't this film sound like a perfect vehicle for a few of Anderson's favorite actors? Namely Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray or Owen Wilson.
