Op-Ed: Illegal Video from SDCC

Last week was Comic Con and thousands of people flocked to the San Diego convention center to see and hear their favorite artists, directors and actors live and in person. This event is extremely popular and by every means crowded, but it always fun. One of the best parts to SDCC is the ability to see exclusive footage. Studios and directors put together special exclusive clips just for attendees to see and enjoy. Stuff that is shown to generate...

Trailer & Poster: Yogi Bear

Was really hoping that yet another one of my childhood cartoons wasn't being raked across the coals, but after watching the first trailer for "Yogi Bear" it appears it is. Like Alvin and the Chipmunks or Garfield, "Yogi Bear" is the next cartoon being brought to life with both live-action and CGI. The movie stars Dan Aykroyd as Yogi Bear and Justin Timberlake as Boo Boo along with Anna Faris and Tom Cavanagh. The live-action hybrid is set to release...

Nick Cave Reworking The Crow

This news took me by surprise when I heard it and truthfully I'm still scratching my head. Word is that singer/songwriter Nick Cave has been brought on to re-write Stephen Norrington's "The Crow" script. Yes, the same guy who wrote "The Proposition" and sang the Scream theme song Red Right Hand is now working on a re-boot of the cult comic book anti-hero. Read the full report after the break below....

SDCC 2010 Wrap-Up

San Diego Comic Con is one of my most treasured vacations each year. Yes, you read that right, vacation. Most of the major movie blogs have scores of writers working for them trying to cover the entire convention, while here on SMR, I've got myself. Attending SDCC for me is not work, it is very much a pleasure and a joy for a couple of reasons. First, I see what I want. I'm not going to cover or waste time attending something I am not interested...

Take a look at them in full size for yourself below....

Review - Inception

A scifi thriller set in a world where contracted agents specialize in invading other people's subconscious' for profit. The art of stealing another person's deepest thought or secrets. "Inception" follows one skilled extractor who is given an opportunity too great to pass up. This job however, is the opposite of extraction, leaving him and his crew in the middle of an extremely volatile mission that is otherwise believed to be impossibl...

Trailer: The Town

I've been waiting for "The Town" since I first heard of it's initial development and thankfully from the looks of the first trailer, it may turn out to be everything I hoped for. Ben Affleck can do no wrong in my book. I've had a huge man crush on guy ever since he laid on the ham in Good Will Hunting. I've enjoyed all of his acting roles (Yes, even Gigli and Jersey Girl) but was blown away by his 2007 directorial debut Gone Baby Gone. "The Town"...

Our first official looks at Ryan Reynolds in character for "The Green Lantern" has finally hit the cover of a magazine. Trailer: The Social Network

There have been a number of teaser trailers that I have neglected to post for David Fincher's upcoming film "The Social Network" but this latest trailer is too good not to post. My expectations for a movie based around the beginnings of Facebook haven't been too high outside of the fact that Jesse Eisenberg is in the lead role and Fincher is directing. This trailer changes all that. This movie quickly jumps near the top of my most anticipated list...

Trailers & Poster: Middle Men

Marvel Making More Headlines

Since this last weekend Marvel news has been swirling about pretty frequently, well sorta. First we learned that Marvel would be replacing Edward Norton as the Hulk in the upcoming "The Avengers" movie through what most would say was a fairly nasty announcement. That was followed by retorts by Norton and his representatives which proved he knew how to take the high road. In the meantime, Marvel is chomping at the bit to get a replacement named in...

Hunting for a Wicked Director

It has been almost two years since I last reported about "Wicked." Yes, I am talking about the Broadway musical that has been a huge hit for years now. Universal won out the option to make a feature length film, but since then the property has not had much advances. That all changes with the current news. Universal is currently meeting with directors to get the Wizard of Oz prequel in front of cameras soon. Take a look at the full report after the...

X-Men First Class Roll Call

"X-Men: First Class" has been building up for awhile now but we are finally getting closer to a full cast and a proposed shooting date. With that being said, I figured I would give us all a breakdown of what's happening so far. We all known that Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn has ended up in the director's chair, but the large cast is a little bit more foggy. Checkout the line up after the break....

Trailer: I Spit on Your Grave

Yet another classic horror film has been remade, this time it is the 1970's cult hit I Spit on Your Grave. A movie that for its time pushed the boundaries of horror and was slammed by critics for its brutal and graphic depictions of rape. Let's just say it's no family film and probably one that you will certainly have to seek out to find. Seems a little strange that someone would remake a film that is destined for a limited release and a lot negative...

It appears this news has been a long time coming. Unfortunately the relationship between Marvel Studios and Edward Norton was for not, because this weekend super producer Kevin Feige has confirmed that the studio is looking for a new Bruce Banner/ The Hulk. Trailer: Let Me In

Remakes are a mixed bag of emotions to say the least. Sometimes, they feel ripe for the picking. Other times they feel completely wrong, but most of the time they feel like cash grabs. Let the Right One In is a Swedish vampire movie that is based off a novel of the same name. The original film is nearly a masterpiece and a film that most would say should not be remade (including the director). However Hammer Films and Overture have gone ahead and...

Trailer: Rango

The upcoming Paramount animated film is directed by Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski and looks pretty impressive.
