I've been waiting for "The Town" since I first heard of it's initial development and thankfully from the looks of the first trailer, it may turn out to be everything I hoped for. Ben Affleck can do no wrong in my book. I've had a huge man crush on guy ever since he laid on the ham in Good Will Hunting. I've enjoyed all of his acting roles (Yes, even Gigli and Jersey Girl) but was blown away by his 2007 directorial debut Gone Baby Gone. "The Town" follows along in similar territory and stars Ben Affleck, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively and Chris Cooper. Take a look at the trailer and full synopsis after the jump...
While the trailer might give away a solid majority of the film, I don't think Affleck is trying to show us anything all that knew. Just a well told Bostonian criminal thriller. Which if a trailer is anything to judge by, Affleck has easily done that. You have to love this exceptional cast as well. Jeremy Renner hot off his The Hurt Locker success, not to mention Jon Hamm, who is a flawless method actor. I'm also glad to see Rebecca Hall cast in a lead role, she gave a noticeable performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona and its refreshing to see more of her. "The Town" releases September 17th nationwide.
Full synopsis: Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck) is an unrepentant criminal, the de facto leader of a group of ruthless bank robbers who pride themselves in stealing what they want and getting out clean. With no real attachments, Doug never has to fear losing anyone close to him. But that all changed on the gang's latest job, when they briefly took a hostage--bank manager, Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall). Though they let her go unharmed, Claire is nervously aware that the robbers know her name... and where she lives. But she lets her guard down when she meets an unassuming and rather charming man named Doug....not realizing that he is the same man who only days earlier had terrorized her. The instant attraction between them gradually turns into a passionate romance that threatens to take them both down a dangerous, and potentially deadly, path.
