More X-Men Cast Confirmed

If you've been following along, you know that 20th Century Fox is feverishly working towards a shooting date late this summer for "X-Men: First Class." The studio has been quickly filling out the cast and today two more additions have been confirmed. One of them was rumored last week as the villain for the origin film, while the other debunks previous rumors that Amber Heard would play Mystique. Checkout the full report below...

Yes, it is true, Kevin Bacon has indeed been confirmed as the villain for "X-Men: First Class." I wish I had more news to tell surround exactly who Mr. Bacon will be playing, but for now, 20th Century Fox and director Matthew Vaughn are keeping that news under wraps. It seems most have narrowed it down to Bacon playing either Mr. Sinister or Mastermind. Who would you prefer?

Truthfully Mastermind or Jason Wyngarde seems more realistic for the origin-esque story Fox is aiming for with 'First Class.' Mastermind was first featured in X-Men #4 and is a mutant with the power to generate complex telepathic illusions. He's known for being one of the initial members of Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants which has also been featured in the previous X-Men movies. With Magneto and Mastermind's previous history, its not a far stretch to believe he'll be the villain Kevin Bacon is portraying. I also just don't see Fox being head over heels to have Mr. Sinister on the big screen. He is a little bit of a goofy looking villain to bring to the big screen and not expect laughs.

The second bit of casting news centers around Mystique, the character previously portrayed by Rebecca Romijn will now be played by Jennifer Lawrence. Lawrence is coming off quite a bit of praise from Winter's Bone and it should be very interesting to see the 19 year-old actress as the blue skinned villainess. Amber Heard had been previously rumored for the role, but with Lawrence now attached, there is little doubt Heard will not be apart of "X-Men: First Class."
