Whitaker Likes Armstrong's World

Thespian Forest Whitaker has just signed on to direct and star in "What a Wonderful World" a bio-pic about the life of the great Jazz musician Louis Armstrong. The film is being produced by Alain Goldman and Edward R. Pressman for the french studio Legende. While Ron Bass and Oscar Cohen will serve as Executive Producers. Ron Bass also penned the original script.

The film will follow Louis Armstrong's life from his earlier impoverished years in New Orleans and chronicle is amazing rise as a trumpet player in Jazz music. This isn't the first time Forest Whitaker has played a Jazz musician. In 1988, Whitaker starred as Charlie the Bird Parker in Academy Award winning film directed by Clint Eastwood, "Bird." What a Wonderful World will begin filming in Louisiana summer 2009.

Forest Whitaker is a perfect choice to portray Louis Armstrong and should bring a great eye and vision to the film. Armstrong was an amazing performer and a just pleasure to hear, so this film will definately be a delight to see.
