With the Post Season of Major League Baseball in full swing I thought it a perfect time to put up my Top 10 Baseball Movies of All Time. When I actually sat down and went through all the baseball movies I've seen and that are out there, I was disappointed to see how many bad baseball movies there are. I challenge anyone one to come up with anymore than three other baseball films that could even make a top ten list that aren't on mine already. Eventhough there have been so many stinkers, there have been some great ones so without further delay here the rest of the list....
This is an all around great film. It takes anyone who played Little League or just played baseball back to their younger years and all the enjoyment of baseball as kids. It reminds us also of a time when kids actually went outside to play. The hilarity that ensues throughout The Sandlot is timeless and has some awesome quotes that you hear random people saying from time to time. The Sandlot is fun for all ages and always entertains. 
Yet another Kevin Costner baseball movie that follows a Class A baseball team called the Durham Bulls. Costner plays Crash Davis a veteran minor league cather who has a new rising rookie pitcher to control named Nuke LaLoosh played by Tim Robbins. Robbins and Costner are perfect together in this film and provide some great hilarity along the way. Susan Sarandon plays Ann, a fan who chooses one minor league player to have an affair with each season has her eyes on both Crash and Nuke. The love triangle that forms between the three is perfect. Bull Durham is a hilarious look into minor league baseball and should be seen by any adult baseball fan. 
Major League is the funniest baseball movie ever made. It has a stellar cast with Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes, Tom Berenger, Corbin Bernsen and Rene Russo. The film follows the Cleveland Indians in a season where their new owner purposefully puts together a terrible team so they can loose and she can move the team. The players soon find out and rally to begin winning just to spite their new owners plan. Berenger plays a similar role to Costner in Bull Durham as the aging cather who must reign in the wild rookie pitcher played by Charlie Sheen. Major League spawned two pretty lackluster sequels, but the original still remains the best baseball comedy and a great all around baseball film. 
Eight Men Out follows the 1919 White Sox in a year when they were deemed the Black Sox for a scandal in which the team accepted bribes to throw the World Series. Shoeless Joe Jackson, one of baseball greatest players, was never allowed to play professional basbeall again after this scandal. The film has a dynamite cast that includes John Cusack, Charlie Sheen, David Strathairn, D.B. Sweeney, Christopher Lloyd amoung others. The film has outstanding performances by all and really does a great job in telling the infamous scandal of the Chicago White Sox. The film has just oustanding drama and great baseball action for a film that the outcome is known before watching. Overall Eight Men Out is a phenominal film that is a must see for any baseball fan. 
Field of Dreams is Kevin Costner's love song to baseball. It also is his best baseball movie and clearly the best baseball film. The film follows an Iowa corn farmer who begins hearing a voice, who tells him, "If you build it, he will come." Ray Kinsella interprets the meaning for him to build a baseball diamond. He does and Shoeless Joe Jackson and the rest of the Chicago Black Sox begin to appear to him and his family. Field of Dreams is a timeless family film that should be ssen by anyone. I have not met a person who does not like Field of Dreams. Kevin Costner is in top form in the film and includes other outstanding performances by Ray Liotta and James Earl Jones.
