The Black Identity

Funnyman Jack Black for years was a supporting actor who appeared in films like Waterworld, Bob Roberts, Enemy of the State, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and Demolition Man with bit cameos, but things have changed and he is now a major contender at the Box Office. THR is reporting that Jack Black will be reuniting with "Kung Fu Panda" writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger for a new live-action untitled comedy.

The film centers around an American (Black) who wakes up on the beaches of Cuba with no idea of who he is or why he is there. He comes to the believe that he is a superspy, when in actuality he is the further thing from that.

Yes, I too, instantly thought of the Bourne series that was already produced by Universal. Glenn Berger added to push the difference, "On the other hand....if he did turn out to be a superspy, this wouldn't be a 'comedic Bourne Identity,' but just 'The Bourne Identity,' and apparently Universal has already made that movie, several times." So clearly the writing team of Berger and Aibel are writing a unquie spin on a loss of identity for Black. Aibel said speaking of Mr. Black, "We also figured that if we could write for Jack as a panda, we could write for him as a human." I am sure hijinks ensue and Black will do his typical, "Shum-in-la-ma-do-wap-to-do," scat vocal improvisation routine. I am really growing tired of it and was pleased in when it was almost absent in Tropic Thunder. The film being produced by Universal has a seven-figure production deal in the works. More word as it comes in...

Thoughts on a Bourne Identity type comedy with Black in the lead? Oh, I forgot, it's not the Bourne Identity comedy, sorry. Did you know Black's parents were both rocket scientists and his mother worked on the Hubble space telescope? Useless shit, I know...
