Routh to Stay Man of Steel

WB and DC have made it clear that they will be conducting a reboot of Superman because of the lack of success with Superman Returns. One would naturally think that if WB is rebooting Superman, they would be re-casting, but not so fast. It seems that Warner Bros and DC have it in their minds to keep Brandon Routh in the lead role.

Latino Review caught up with Paul Levitz, the President of DC Comics and asked him what was up with the Man of Steel. Levitz said, “Last week Brandon Routh has come around the offices in New York and Los Angeles as of late to talk about Superman and what we want to do.” Levitz went on to say that both WB studios and DC comics love Brandon Routh and what he has done with both Clark Kent and Superman. I cant agree more Routh was perfect as both Kent and Supes.

The last thing that Mr. Levitz talked about regarded another batman film and that everything hinged on Nolan signing on to direct the third film. “Everyone is waiting for Nolan to sign on for another Batman, once that happens, the release date for Superman and all other future projects will follow,” Levitz said. That means Green Lantern is moving forward and expected in 2010, while DC is pushing hard for Batman 3 by 2011, leaving the earliest date for Superman 2012. I personally think DC and WB should just move forward with Superman despite Nolan and Batman franchise. Let Nolan do another project first. Green Lantern, Superman, Super Max and The Flash can all satisfy us while we wait for Nolan to bring us one more Batman film.

So, Superman's fate hinges on Batman...nice. Thoughts on Routh staying Superman? Who would you have play the Man of Steel? Should Singer be allowed to direct another Superman?
