Elfman Scores Salvation

It's official, at the very least, the score to McG's "Terminator Salvation" will kick ass! MTV talked with Danny Elfman and he said he just began working on the score. Danny Elfman is one of the best musicians of all time! His 80's Pop band Oingo Boingo was and is one of my all time favorite bands and his work on countless films score is undeniably amazing. Elfman has scored every Tim Burton film except Sweeney Todd, all 3 Spider-Man films, Good Will Hunting, Dick Tracy, Hulk, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Wanted, Men in Black, Batman, Nightbreed, Mission Impossible amoung a huge list of others. So it is easy to assume, at least Elfman's work will be amazing.

The real question is, will Elfman incorporate the original "Terminator" theme composed by Brad Fiedel. Elfman told MTV, "I think if it comes up and it seems appropriate, we will [use it]," Elfman said. Appropriate? Seriously, Elfman? Your a smart guy, of course it is appropriate, its the freaking Terminator! Elfman continued by saying, "And if it doesn’t, we [won't]. I never really know what to expect when I begin other than just kind of get into it and have fun. Especially a movie like “T4” – just have fun. So that’s what I intend to do."

His quote is sort of a big let down. The Terminator theme is iconic and to not include it would be a sin. It is one of the iconic themes that always sucks you right in and anticipating some real great action. I remember at last years Comic Con, walking into Hall H for the "Terminator Salvation" panel and they had the theme music pumping, it instantly triggered goosebumps up and down my arms and the group I was with all comment to the same feelings. That theme sets a tone in Terminator and is a must in Terminator Salvation, so hopefully Elfman does include it!

What say you? Does Danny Elfman scoring "Terminator Salvation" build up your anticipation even more? Does the iconic Terminator theme need to be included? Strikeback....
