Disney confirmed today that Robert Zemeckis will indeed make a 3D motion capture remake of The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" at D23. Last month I reported that Disney and Zemeckis were intending to remake the 1968 animated film, but the rights to the music of the original soundtrack was that last piece of the puzzle in getting a remake into production. Unfortunately the mega-lawyers at Disney have worked their magic and "Yellow Submarine" will begin production shortly aiming for a 2012 release. The new film will incorporate all 16 songs from the original soundtrack.
A ton of news is pouring out of the Disney Fan Expo called D23 today and one big slab of news is that Disney has revealed the official title and logo (pictured above) to the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The film will be called "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and is scheduled to sail into cinemas Summer 2011. No news was given on plot details, but it just so happens that Cinematical writer Erik Davis came across an interesting lead that just may reveal what Disney intends for the 'Pirates' franchise in the fourth adventure.
