Disney confirmed today that Robert Zemeckis will indeed make a 3D motion capture remake of The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" at D23. Last month I reported that Disney and Zemeckis were intending to remake the 1968 animated film, but the rights to the music of the original soundtrack was that last piece of the puzzle in getting a remake into production. Unfortunately the mega-lawyers at Disney have worked their magic and "Yellow Submarine" will begin production shortly aiming for a 2012 release. The new film will incorporate all 16 songs from the original soundtrack.
Woke up this morning to the shocking, thrilling and perplexing news that Walt Disney Co. had acquired Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion dollars! Wow, way to shake up the industry. Twitter went nuts for a good two hours with thousands of tweets of both negative and positive reaction.
