Indy Joins Cowboys & Aliens

Early on this week rumors swirled that Indiana Jones himself Harrison Ford might be joining the cast of "Cowboys and Aliens." Today via Twitter director Jon Favreau confirmed that Ford will in fact join the cast. He said, "Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens. Okay? He is." For the full details keep reading...

"Cowboys and Aliens" will be the third comic book movie Jon Favreau will have directed. The adaptation is being setup over at Dreamworks with Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde set to star in lead roles. Craig replaced Robert Downey Jr. this year, when Jr. bowed out due to scheduling conflicts with a Sherlock Holmes sequel. Craig will play Zeke Jackson while Wilde will play Ella. The film was penned by a remarkable group of writers including Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Hawk Ostby, Mark Fergus and Damon Lindelof. Favreau has lined up cinematographer Matthew Libatique to shoot the comic adaptation. Libatique previously worked with Favreau on both Iron Man and "Iron Man 2" not to mention shooting The Fountain and Darren Aronofsky's latest "Black Swan."

Having director Jon Favreau confirm Harrison Ford's involvement is exciting. I love Harrison Ford. Well I guess I should stipulate, I love Harrison Ford in the right roles. "Cowboys and Aliens" seems ripe for Ford. There has been no confirmation of which role Ford will be playing, but you could do your own guess work by reading the comic here. The film is set to begin lensing later this year with a July 29th, 2011 release date planned. Stay tuned for more on "Cowboys and Aliens" as it breaks...
