Noomi Rapace Getting Notice

Swedish actress Noomi Rapace has started her transition into American cinema. The 31 year-old who got her notice from the recent 'The Girl...' trilogy has landed a unnamed role in Guy Ritchie's soon to be filming "Sherlock Holmes 2." The actress came to L.A. back in August to meet with Hollywood executives about beginning the transition and after shopping a number of properties, she's chosen one that is sure to get her some mainstream notice. Warner Brothers are keeping most of the Sherlock Holmes sequel details under wraps. We do know that Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and Watson (Jude Law) will return to take on Moriarty. Holmes' brother, Mycroft will also make a appearance. There is speculation that Noomi Rapace's role will be that of a French Gypsy. Casting Rapace you'd think she would replace the Rachel McAdams character as Holmes new love interest, but at this time that is not clear either.

Seeing Noomi Rapace getting some notoriety and making a transition over to American cinema is satisfying. The original "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is a powerful drama that has been released in limited theaters to moderate success. A remake is currently in process for American cinema that Rooney Mara is cast in the role Rapace previous played. Considering many Americans will never see the original Swedish version, it is nice to know that at least they will get a chance to know the star of the original trilogy and her acting abilities.

Stay tuned for more on "Sherlock Holmes 2" as it develops...
