KCET's Fall Cinema Series

Over the course of KCET's summer Cinema Series they delivered nine fantastic evenings filled with quality movies and rising Q&A's moderated by film critic Pete Hammond and it doesn't stop there. The fall series is ready to kick off again on Tuesday, August 30th with eight new films screened before their theatrical release and one classic Johnny Mercer scored film. The KCET Fall Cinema Series will run every Tuesday evening from August 30th through October 25th in Santa Monica at the Aero theatre. The screenings begin promptly at 7:00 pm and will be immediately followed with a engaging Q&A moderated by Pete Hammond and including the filmmakers as well as cast members for the films being screened.

KCET's Fall Cinema Series schedule - Here's what we do know (please check back because I will be updating this post as more films are scheduled):

August 30th - "Warrior"
"Warrior" is directed by Gavin O'Connor and stars Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton. Warrior is being touted as a must see; A searing Oscar-worthy family drama in the tradition of the Academy Award winning film "The Fighter". The plot focuses on the lives of two brothers at odds with each other in their personal lives and in the ring.

September 6th - "Drive"
"Drive" directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Bryan Cranston and Ron Perlman. Ryan Gosling plays a Hollywood stunt performer by day, getaway driver by night, who discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong.

September 13 - "Puncture"
Chris Evans stars in this David and Goliath law drama about a drug-addicted lawyer who takes on a health supply corporation while battling his own personal demons. Q & A with star Chris Evans and director Adam Kassan follows after the screening.

September 20 - "50/50"
Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as an otherwise healthy 27-year-old who gets suddenly diagnosed with cancer. The film follows the drama that unfolds when each of the people closest to him react differently to his diagnosis. Q & A will follow immediately with star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and producer Evan Goldberg.

September 27 - "Like Crazy"
A complex and complicated love story of two young people in a relationship stuck somewhere between L.A. and London. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival as well as Best Actress for Felicity Jones. Q&A follows with star Anton Yelchin and writer/director Drake Doremus.

October 4 - "The Ides of March"
An idealistic staffer (Ryan Gosling) for a newbie presidential candidate (George Clooney) gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail. Based on the play by Beau Willimon. Guests for Q&A TBA.

October 11 - "Margin Call"
A thriller that revolves around the key people at a investment bank over a 24-hour period during the early stages of the financial crisis. Directed by J.C. Chandor "Margin Call" stars Jeremy Irons, Paul Bettany, Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci and Zachary Quinto. Guests for Q & A TBA

October 18 - "Anonymous"
A political thriller advancing the theory that it was in fact Edward De Vere, Earl of Oxford who penned Shakespeare's plays; set against the backdrop of the succession of Queen Elizabeth I, and the Essex Rebellion against her. Guests for Q&A TBA.

October 25 - Johnny Mercer Movie Night
TBA
