Super Sets Release Date

One film I walked away from San Diego Comic Con 2010 extremely excited to see is James Gunn's "Super" starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Kevin Bacon, Liv Tyler and Nathan Fillion. The film revolves around a married man whose wife leaves him for a drug dealer, which in turn forces him into becoming a crime fighter known as the Crimson Bolt. This last week news broke that Gunn's low budget indie film which was picked up by IFC will be hitting select theaters April 1st, 2011. Generally every year at San Diego Comic Con there is one movie I walk away very excited about. Some years its a movie that is under the radar, other years its a major movie everyone is stoked for. SDCC 2010 Wrap-Up

San Diego Comic Con is one of my most treasured vacations each year. Yes, you read that right, vacation. Most of the major movie blogs have scores of writers working for them trying to cover the entire convention, while here on SMR, I've got myself. Attending SDCC for me is not work, it is very much a pleasure and a joy for a couple of reasons. First, I see what I want. I'm not going to cover or waste time attending something I am not interested in. Second, I'm going with intentions to have fun. Simply put, this is a passion of mine so listening to some of my favorite directors and actors describing an upcoming project not to mention potentially showing me (and thousands of others) exclusive footage, is by every means, tons of fun.

This article is not trying to be breaking news. If you wanted that, you are better off on a site like Deadline, Slash Film, Collider, Latino Review or Heat Vision Blog who are in the business of pushing movies. I'm here instead to bring my opinion on upcoming movies that I am genuinely interested in. There is absolutely no peddling here, just my impressions from my experience at SDCC 2010. Gunn's 'Super' Announced

The realisitic perspective on the superhero is becoming to be a bit of a new trend. Films like The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Special and the upcoming "Defendor" and "Kick-Ass" are a spin on the superhero genre that shifts from heroes with powers to more or less a poor man's Batman or Iron Man.
