KCET's Summer Cinema Series is back and it is full swing having already hosted two dates but there are still seven nights left to attend. Last year I covered KCET's weekly cinema series and this year I have returned to cover what I can (busy schedule permitting). Moderator Pete Hammond is also back behind the microphone asking some great questions to talent of the films being screened. Just what is being screened you ask, take a look below...
JUNE 19 - BRAVE
A computer animated film produced by the talents of Pixar Animation Studios (Toy Story/Bug’s Life/Ratatouille/Cars). It is a dark and mythical fairy tale of sorts set against the backdrop of the Highlands of Scotland. The story tells the tale of an unruly princess, who through her defiant actions brings much chaos to the kingdom. The film employs the voice talents of an all-star cast: Emma Thompson, Kelly MacDonald, Billy Connolly, and Craig Ferguson.

JUNE 26 - PEOPLE LIKE US
A drama that marks the directorial debut of director Alex Kurtzman, tells the story of a struggling man, who after flying home to L.A. for the funeral of his father discovers that a stipulation in the father’s will states that he must deliver a $150,000 to a 30-year old sister he didn’t realized existed and her troubled 12-year old son. Film stars Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Michelle Pfeiffer, and John Favreau.

July 10 - Queen of Versailles
Winner of the U.S. Directing award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, this remarkable and incredible film is a character-driven documentary about a billionaire family and their financial challenges in the wake of the economic crisis. With epic proportions of Shakespearean tragedy the film follows two unique characters whose rags to riches success stories reveal the innate virtues and flaws of the American dream.
Q&A follows with director Lauren Greenfield.
July 17 - Ruby Sparks
The first film from the directing team of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris since their Oscar winning 2006 Best Picture nominee , Little Miss Sunshine stars Paul Dano as a young novelist, strugging in his personal and professional life, who invents a character named Ruby who inspires him. But watch out. When she turns up in the flesh a week later he is stunned that his words could have created a living , breathing answer to his dreams. Annette Bening, Zoe Kazan and Antonio Banderas co-star.
Q&A immediately follows with producers Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa (Little Miss Sunshine).
July 31 - Hope Springs
Three time Oscar winner and 17-time nominee Meryl Streep and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones star in this sophisticated and winning comedy about a couple married for thirty years who attend a week-long retreat and counseling session in order to put the sexual spark back into their lives. Steve Carell co-stars as their therapist. From director David Frankel who also directed Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada."
